Moskowitz DM, Klein JJ, Shander A, Cousineau KM, Goldweit RS, Bodian C, Perelman SI, Kang H, Fink DA, Rothman HC, and Ergin MA. Predictors of transfusion requirements for cardiac surgical procedures at a blood conservation center. Ann Thorac Surg 2004;77:626–34. Equation 1 and the definition of its terms were printed incorrectly in the above-entitled article in the February 2004 issue of The Annals. The equation and the text preceding it on page 627 should have read:

From these factors, the probability of allogenic trans-fusion for an individual patient can be calculated by the derived equation:

S = –7.82 + (0.39 x preop PT) – (0.0016 x RBC mass) + 1.81 (if creatinine > 1.3) + 1.76 (if # of diseased vessels > 1) + 1.37 (if surgery is combined CABG + valve) + 1.25 (if case is urgent/emergent)
