To the Editor
I am concerned at a statement in the article by Chan and colleagues [1] indicating "there is a long-term risk of developing a malignancy" in reference to the use of talc for pleurodesis. The authors have not cited a scientific reference for this statement, and I myself am unaware of any substantiating evidence.
This is a very important consideration: talc poudrage is now used extensively in the chest and if there is any malignant potential, patient information will need to be adjusted accordingly.
