To the Editor
Yamanaka and associates [1] presented four very interesting case reports and a review of the English-language literature on anomalous systemic arterial supply to normal basal segments of the left lower lobe, a rare condition, and its surgical therapy. We [2] embolized the systemic artery in a patient who was seen with massive hemoptysis. The success of this method was demonstrated by clinical and angiographic follow-up. In our opinion, embolotherapy can be considered a less invasive treatment, at least in patients who have a dual (systemic and pulmonary artery) supply to the affected segment.
