To the Editor
Zurbrugg and associates have once again called attention to the use of sheathed vein grafts, which may be used as venous bypasses in various procedures [1]. Several previous publications had been cited, but none included our report entitled, "New stent for support of veins in arterial grafts" published many years ago (Arch Surg 1963;87:696702). We found that method of supporting varicosed saphenous veins intended for bypass procedures to be useful in several clinical cases. As time went on this method was abandoned as we became experienced with mobilizing the internal thoracic artery for coronary bypasses.
