I congratulate Dr Dearani on an excellent presentation, and greatly appreciate the opportunity to have been able to review the manuscript of this extensive experience.

Although clear significance was not present, I think this study infers further evidence of the inferiority of the freehand subcoronary technique of aortic valve replacement using homograft tissue. Placing normal aortic leaflets into an abnormal aortic root may all too often lead to improper leaflet coaptation and the ultimate development of aortic insufficiency.
