DR PATRICK M. McCARTHY (Cleveland, OH): Doctor Oz, Dr Rose, Kathy Catanese, and the entire Columbia team are to be congratulated on these results. All of us using LVADs understand how much team effort this project requires. It seems that it should be relatively simple to discharge a patient, but because of the many FDA requirements and the patient and family training required, it becomes a very onerous task.
