To the Editor:
We read with interest the article by Hangler and colleagues [1], in which they have shown severe endothelial damage with the use of an intraluminal shunt (ILS) compared with snaring; hence concluding that shunts should be used selectively.
This study raises three interesting issues: (1) What is the appropriate size of ILS that should be used? In a previous publication, the same group [2], using a similar human model presented similar results of extensive endothelial denudation with exposure of subendothelial tissue when an ILS was used.
