Moainie and associates [1] demonstrated that survival to hospital discharge was identical in both endovascular and open repair for blunt thoracic aortic injury, with 85% of patients surviving. Although there have been several comparative studies of endovascular versus open repair for blunt thoracic aortic injury, such comparisons are hampered by the small number of cases (eg, 52 patients in the study by Moainie and colleagues [1]) owing to the relative rarity of this condition.
