    Introduction
 
The Forty-Third Annual Meeting of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) will be held at the San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, California, January 29–31, 2007, preceded by STS/AATS Tech-Con 2007 on Saturday, January 27, and Sunday, January 28. The meeting is open to all physicians, residents, fellows, engineers, perfusionists, physician assistants, nurses, or other interested individuals. Both members and nonmembers are urged to register in advance. Meeting attendees will be provided with the latest scientific information to practicing cardiothoracic surgeons.

The Workforce on Annual Meeting Program Task Force was pleased with the response to this year’s abstract call, receiving almost 750 abstract and surgical video submissions. The high quality of the abstract submissions made it possible for the Workforce to develop a program that represents all aspects of adult and congenital cardiac, and general thoracic surgery.

On Monday afternoon, there will be five Parallel Surgical Forums titled: "Adult Cardiac," "Adult Cardiac II," "General Thoracic," "Congenital Cardiac," and "Practice Education." These Forums will run from 1:30–3:30 PM.

On Tuesday afternoon, there will be five Parallel Surgical Forums that will run from 1:30–5:45 PM. The five Parallel Surgical Forums will be: "Adult Cardiac," "Adult Cardiac II," "General Thoracic: Esophageal," "General Thoracic: Lungs," and "Congenital."

The popular breakfast sessions will be held Tuesday morning. The topics include: Ventricular Assist Devices for Children, Skeletonized IMA, Meet the Experts I: How to Operate After Neoadjuvant Therapy of Lung Cancer, Meet the Experts II: VATS Lobectomy, Meet the Experts III: Percutaneous Valves, Meet the Experts IV: Hybrid Surgery for HLHS, and Meet the Experts V: Thoracic Endografting.
