An infant suffered sternal infection and ventricular septal patch dehiscente after a truncus arteriosus repair. Successful reoperation used rifampicin-impregnated gelatin-sealed Dacron to repair the recurrent ventricular septal defect and replace the contaminated conduit. This was an effective solution to a potentially lethal surgical complication.
