Mycotic aneurysms of the ascending aorta are rare. We report the case of a
38-year-old woman with systemic lupus erythematosus being treated with
steroids who presented with a large Neisseria gonorrhoeae ascending aortic
aneurysm. She was successfully treated with surgical resection of the
aneurysm and prolonged postoperative antibiotic therapy.
