Pyoderma gangrenosum after coronary artery bypass grafting

Pyoderma gangrenosum is a rare cutaneous disorder that may complicate recovery after a cardiac operation. The lesions appear to represent a necrotizing infection; how-ever, they do not respond to surgical debridement and antibiotic therapy. The treatment is based on high-dose corticosteroids and concomitant treatment of any underlying systemic disease.
