The widespread use of left atrial lines underscores the importance of left
atrial pressure monitoring in open heart operations. We present a simple
and safe method of intraoperative insertion of a left atrial line during an
open heart operation. Foremost among the several advantages of this method
is that there would no longer be any concern of postoperative bleeding
after removal of the left atrial line.
