Cardiac herniation and torsion after intrapericardial pneumonectomy without
closure of the pericardium is widely recognized. However, such a
complication occurring after lobectomy has been rarely discussed in the
literature. We describe a case of cardiac torsion of late onset that
developed in a woman who had undergone left upper lobectomy as part of a
resection for a malignant thymoma.
