A 17-year-old woman was admitted with malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the
cervical trachea. The very rare occurrence of malignancy in this tumor at
that location and its unusual presentation, misdiagnosis, and surgical
management in the face of near-total tracheal occlusion make its reporting
worthwhile.
