Calcified Mitral Valve Annulus: Prosthesis Insertion

We describe a technique for insertion of a mitral valve prosthesis in the presence of a heavily calcified annulus. The valve leaflets are used for securing the prosthesis, and both the anterior and posterior chordae tendineae and papillary muscle complexes are preserved.
