Retrograde cardioplegia through the coronary sinus

We describe a balloon catheter designed for perfusing cardioplegic solution retrograde through the coronary sinus during cardiac surgical procedures. Emphasis is placed on features that increase both the safety and the effectiveness of this alternative means of delivering cardioplegic solution.
