An implanted right ventricular electrode that had become infected and
entrapped was removed using continuous traction. Upon removal it was found
to be attached to an irregular mass of myocardium 2 to 3 cm long. No
unfavorable effects resulted. A new pacemaker was implanted, and the
patient has remained well.
