A suture technique which avoids periprosthetic leakage during replacement of the aortic valve is described. Three types of stitch are inserted in a manner that causes all needle points to exit in a straight plane. The method was employed in 106 consecutive patients; of the 99 who survived operation, none have developed perivalvular leak.
