Confusion exists in differentiating between inflammatory bronchial polyps and papillomas. Both lesions are rare but may be differentiated by their histological appearance. Clinical features of 6 patients with inflammatory polyps and 5 with bronchial papillomas are reviewed. Bronchoscopic removal is usually possible, but thoracotomy with excision through a bronchotomy may occasionally be necessary for safe excision.
